I posted a polar bear image earlier this week & commented on the @sea_legacy viral video of the starving polar bear. Heartbreaking yes. In return I had many a comment on my social media from those saying this isn’t all bears, we don’t know the whole story. While yes you are right the point of it in my eyes was simply to point out to people our everyday actions no matter where we live have an impact on polar bears and the arctic. No, not every polar bear is dying of starvation. But there are ONLY about 25 000 or so polar bears left on the planet. 25k. We are over 7 billion.
25k is nothing. Again, not every bear is starving. I’ve seen starving bears & it’s not easy to look at. The majority of polar bears I’ve encountered have been big healthy looking bears like this beautiful momma bear pictured here. I am not naive, i am fully aware not every bear is starving. There’s not too many left in this world and I’m determined to do whatever I can on my part to help ensure these bears have a future. Photographed on assignment with One Ocean Expeditions #fatbear
